Michail Antonio exit verdict shared after what has happened at West Ham
Michail Antonio has been sidelined at West Ham since December after what was a horrendous accident away from football.
West Ham have struggled this season, though Julen Lopetegui will shoulder the majority of the blame for his part in their regression before his sacking.
However, things haven’t improved much since the appointment of Graham Potter, with their lack of attacking threat the main reason behind their struggle.
With Evan Ferguson failing to impress, the lack of attacking options has been evident, and it will be a key area to address in the summer.

West Ham told to part ways with Antonio
Antonio has been a remarkable servant for West Ham throughout his time with the Irons, but his injury has prevented him from contributing to the current campaign.
West Ham will undoubtedly be looking to sign a striker this summer, which would seemingly push Antonio down the pecking order if he is able to return, and Darren Bent thinks it is approaching the time for the Hammers to part way with the Jamaican international.
West Ham | Games | Goals | Assists |
Antonio | 323 | 83 | 35 |
Speaking live on talkSPORT (6:10pm), Bent said: “He’s 35 years old now, at some point West Ham are gonna have to start looking beyond Michail Antonio.
“I know he’s been so important for so long, but as I said, he’s 35 years old, we don’t know what state he’s gonna come back after this leg injury. It’s time for the next one to come about.”

The Irons must recruit well this summer
Recruitment will be key to future success for West Ham, and they simply cant afford to get it wrong this summer.
With the squad they have, anything less than a top 10 finish is a failure, and after European success in the last few years, the regression is concerning.
Potter is already under some pressure given his immediate inability to turn their fortunes around, but that is only likely to change if he is backed with the right signings in the summer transfer window.
A failure to do that would not only be detrimental to his own future, but also to the future of West Ham as they look to return to a side capable of challenging much higher up the Premier League table.
