Michael Owen showers praise on Declan Rice in West Ham v Man Utd

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice put in yet another impressive shift against Manchester United at Old Trafford today.

The England international was solid in the middle of the park as he has been all season, and Michael Owen was pleased with his performance, showering praise on him on the world feed coverage on Premier League productions.

The 23-year-old has arguably been the best player in his position in the top-flight this season, and he proved himself once again against a top side.

Owen said: “He just oozes class, continues to get better and better every week.

“If West Ham continue to improve, then they have a chance to hold on to him. If not, one of the big boys will come after him.”

Absolutely

West Ham are lucky to have such a player, and the fact that he never has a bad game is frightening.

He is one of the main reasons they secured European football last term, and is pushing them towards a top-four finish this term.

Rice outperformed Man Utd midfielders, and given that they are one of the clubs keen on him, he surely would have caught their eyes again with the top performance he put in against them.

He continues to get better every game, and he is not even close to his peak yet.

West Ham proved their quality at Old Trafford today after last weekend’s disappointing defeat to Leeds United, but a late goal from Marcus Rashford undid all their hardwork.

Picking up no points after playing goalless for almost 92 minutes would have been a massive blow given the solid performance they put in.

They would have loved to leave with at least one point, but the Red Devils surely have enough quality and were lucky to grab a victory that could have gone either way.
