Michael Owen predicts winner in West Ham clash v Fulham
Michael Owen has backed West Ham United to return to winning ways against Fulham on Saturday evening.
The Hammers welcome their London rivals after games against both Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League.
Fulham go into the game on the back of their first win this season, but Owen has backed the Irons to win by two or more goals.
Writing in his Bet Victor predictions column, Owen believes the London derby will be filled with goals at the London Stadium.
“This fixture has a history of goals,” he said.
“Ten of the last 11 meetings between the sides at West Ham have featured over 2.5 goals. Given Fulham’s away woes coupled with West Ham’s more than decent run of form this season, I think the Hammers will come out on top with both sides scoring.”
Fulham may be down there in the Premier League but will be full of confidence.
Only six teams keep more possession than the Cottagers on average, according to WhoScored and the Hammers may need to counter-attack.
David Moyes may be tempted to hand Said Benrahma his first start for the club, with the Algerian already tormenting Fulham in the Carabao Cup this season.
The marquee Irons signing scored twice in a 3-0 win, including a piece of magic from distance against their fragile defence.
There won’t be many better occasions to hand him more minutes, and an open game with lots of goals expected could see the 25-year-old shine.
