Michael Owen predicts result of West Ham clash against Norwich

West Ham host Norwich City on Wednesday at the London Stadium and will fancy their chances of picking up all three points in front of their fans.

Dean Smith’s men are bottom of the Premier League table and favourites to relegate, and Michael Owen does not see them springing any surprises, predicting a comfortable 3-1 win for the Hammers in his BetVictor column while previewing the clash.

A win will help David Moyes’ men keep up the pressure on Arsenal in the top-four race, and an easy win looks to be on the cards later today (12 January).

Owen said: “After a few slip-ups, West Ham have found their best form again on their travels.

“They’ve won away to Watford and Crystal Palace, scoring seven goals in the process. The likes of Bowen and Lanzini are in good form, and they’ll like their chances of scoring back on their home ground.

“December was a bitterly disappointing month for Norwich. 5 defeats, 13 goals conceded, and none scored. Things aren’t looking good. Dean Smith will be desperate to get some new players in.

“This should be a comfortable win for West Ham. They’ve been in good goalscoring form, and I can see them adding a few goals here. 3-1 West Ham.”

Win guaranteed

Norwich are without a win in their last five games despite a four-game unbeaten run before that, and they do not look like a side capable of troubling the Irons.

While Moyes has some absences to deal with, he still has more than enough in the tank to face the Canaries, and his side remains clear favourites.

Nevertheless, they will not be resting on their laurels and will absolutely be giving their best, as no team can be underrated in the division.

West Ham had struggled against teams below them in the table before recent wins over Watford and Crystal Palace, and they need to be cautious against Norwich.

They failed to win against the likes of Southampton, Brentford, Wolves, Brighton and Burnley, and nothing is guaranteed against today’s visitors.

The Hammers have the chance to pick up six points out of six in their next two games, though, and they cannot afford to mess things up.

They are proving to be one of the best teams in the land, and they have to prove it with an emphatic win against the minnows.
