Micah Richards shares when Graham Potter could be sacked at West Ham
Graham Potter is already feeling the heat at West Ham after the Premier League opener.
The Hammers lost 3-0 against newly-promoted Sunderland on 16 August in a truly embarrassing display, which only served to harm Potter’s prospects.
David Sullivan may be forced into a decision sooner rather than later if results do not improve for the London Stadium outfit.
Jarrod Bowen has called for a reaction from his West Ham teammates, but it remains to be seen whether Potter can garner one.

Micah Richards thinks Graham Potter could be sacked by West Ham
Despite being just seven months into his reign in the dugout, Potter cannot escape sack talk at West Ham.
Former Manchester City star Micah Richards believes that it cannot continue the way that it has, with Potter winning just five of his 20 matches in charge of the Irons.
Speaking on the Rest is Football (20 August), he said: “I think Potter has been in charge for 20 games, and he has got a 25 per cent win rate.
“That is not good enough. If it carries on like that, I don’t think he will be there by the end of the season.”
How can Graham Potter turn it around at West Ham?
There is only one way for Potter to turn his fortunes around, and that is by winning football matches.
There is no other alternative; if he wants to save his job, then he needs to get the right results.
He may not have the players that he needs; that is certainly an argument to be had as to why he has performed so badly, but he should be able to adapt to the squad at his disposal.
So far, that has not been the case, and he has looked like the manager who was sacked by Chelsea, rather than the one who lit up the top-flight at Brighton.
Potter’s career so far:
- 2008-2011: Leeds Carnegie
- 2011-2018: Ostersund
- 2018-2019: Swansea City
- 2019-2022: Brighton
- 2022-2023: Chelsea
- 2025-present: West Ham
There are still two weeks of the transfer window left, but given the lack of pace with which the E20 outfit have completed deals so far, it remains to be seen whether they can bring in enough players.
The Hammers face Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Crystal Palace in their next four league matches. They need as many positive results as they can get.
Otherwise, Richards may be right, and Potter may not be able to cling to his job for much longer.
