Merson makes ‘mind-blowing’ observation in West Ham v Nottingham Forest prediction
Paul Merson was stunned by what happened in Nottingham Forest’s last encounter ahead of their trip to West Ham this weekend.
West Ham have nothing left to play for this season, though they will be hell bent on ending the campaign on a high after what has been a disappointing year.
Since the arrival of Graham Potter, things have gotten even worse at the London Stadium, and there is every chance that he is at risk of losing his job.
As for the victors, they still have hopes of securing Champions League football, but an incident in their latest defeat didn’t go unnoticed by Merson.

West Ham need to win v Nottingham Forest
Off the back of a 2-0 win against Man United, West Ham have some form of momentum to take into the clash with Forest, and they will need to use it.
Their victory was their first in nine games, dating back to their 2-0 win against Leicester in February, though Merson doesn’t anticipate them securing all three points this weekend, while also acknowledging the altercation in Forest’s last game.
Premier League | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
Forest 7th | 36 | 12 | 62 |
West Ham 15th | 36 | -17 | 40 |
Via SportsKeeda, Merson said: “Next season, if Forest finish in the top half of the table, that would still be one of their greatest achievements. It’s just mind-blowing how the owner came out and confronted Nuno, in my opinion.”
The pundit went on to predict a 1-1 draw for the two sides at the London Stadium, in a result that will help neither side ahead of the final two games of the season.

West Ham entered holiday mode months ago
If Potter is to remain in charge next season, there needs to be some serious improvement made ahead of the new campaign.
The Irons, just as they did under Julen Lopetegui, have no identity whatsoever, and their results have been even worse under the Englishman.
Recruitment is going to be crucial for West Ham in the coming months, though if any concerns remain over the future of Potter, it remains to be seen how difficult it will be to attract the required level of talent.
