McCoist and Stelling in agreement over Jarrod Bowen exit claim at West Ham
Ally McCoist is in full agreement with Jeff Stelling over Jarrod Bowen not needing to leave West Ham in the near future.
Bowen played a crucial role in the Hammers’ 2-1 home victory over Wolves on 9 December, registering a goal and an assist.
Adrian Durham had previously claimed that Bowen needed to leave West Ham to escape Julen Lopetegui but McCoist disapproved claiming he “doesn’t like” that type of stance.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (10 December, 9:00 am), Stelling made the point that Bowen is “happy” at West Ham and reiterated how important his family life is at the club.
McCoist then jumped in: “You can’t underestimate the importance of how happy he is. Because it contributes to him being relaxed on the pitch and enjoying his football and enjoying his life.
“If he’s happy away from it, that is half the battle and you’re absolutely spot on. He’s clearly in an environment right now where he’s content on and off the pitch and he’s happy.”
“He loves being at West Ham and West Ham love him as well,” Stelling added.
Jarrod Bowen is an absolute star for West Ham
With all the talk around a potential exit for Lopetegui, the actual importance of Bowen sometimes gets overshadowed.
Bowen is undoubtedly one of the best forward players in the Premier League and the Irons are incredibly fortunate to still have him on their books as he can play at a top, top level.
His goal against Wolves showcased pure quality and begs the question as to where the Hammers would be without him. It’s a worrying thought.
However, they do have him and as mentioned by Stelling and McCoist, he’s happy with where he is for various reasons.

He’s earning international recognition, playing each week while earning plaudits for his performances and is enjoying life at the London Stadium as captain.
Would he thrive under a more attacking manager? Absolutely. But with how he is playing and the attitude he shows on and off the pitch, there is no need for any concerns over his future at the club.
In other West Ham news, Jamie Carragher was in disbelief at what he saw in their clash with Wolves.
