Matterface and Parlour disagree on West Ham v Crystal Palace prediction

Sam Matterface and Ray Parlour both backed West Ham to draw with Crystal Palace but disagreed on the scoreline and scorer.

Graham Potter’s side welcome Crystal Palace to the London Stadium on Saturday (18 January) as he looks to build on his first win overseeing the Hammers.

The Irons beat Fulham 3-2 on Tuesday (14 January) although their opponents were the dominant force in the game 21 shots to West Ham’s four.

As a result, Matterface doesn’t see the East London outfit getting anything more than a point as he said live on talkSPORT (17 January, 9:32am): “1-1. Kudus to score.

“Look, they’re looking to get back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since March last year West Ham.

“I thought they were a little bit fortunate against Fulham and that’s underplaying it a little bit, to be honest.

“I think Palace are a very resolute side, not the most enterprising. I’m going for a draw 1-1.”

Parlour also went for a draw but changed his scoreline, saying: “Yeah I’ve got 1-1 down as well on my prediction but do you want me to change it?

“I’ll go 2-2 then and I’ll go Paqueta.”

Graham Potter looking to get going with West Ham

Although their victory against Fulham may have been as the least dominant side in front of goal, Potter will not have minded as his side picked up three points.

Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean they can immediately build upon this and given they have struggled to get two consecutive wins all season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see momentum slow to gather.

That being said, the Hammers won’t want to lose this game either, especially against a side who are sat two places and two points below them in the table.

The East London outfit showed they have players in their side who can contribute more than they have throughout the campaign the season so far with three different goal scorers on Tuesday meaning we could see more attacking elements in the Hammers’ performance.

Three points from this game would be an ideal boost for West Ham but as long as they take some points from this game, it’s continuing to move in a better direction.

In other West Ham news, active talks have kicked off for the transfer of an attacker who Potter greatly admires.
