Massimiliano Allegri wage demands emerge as West Ham look at new appointment
Massimiliano Allegri would want double the wage Julen Lopetegui is earning to take over at West Ham United, according to CalcioMercato.
The news outlet reported on 3 December that the Hammers are eyeing the former Juventus head coach to replace the Spanish manager after the recent negative results.
Lopetegui currently earns around £3.3 million per season at the Irons, and Allegri could demand no less than £6.6m to sit in the London Stadium’s dugout.
The Hammers lost 3-1 to Leicester on 3 December, and the East London club are now looking at potential replacements for the Spaniard [The Sun].
Massimiliano Allegri is a gamble for West Ham United
Allegri established himself as one of the best managers in the world during his first stint at Juventus, winning multiple league titles and taking them to the Champions League final.
The 57-year-old’s stock has tumbled a bit in recent years after his return to the Old Lady didn’t go as planned.
David Sullivan could be taking a gamble by handing the Italian the reins at the Irons, with the team hovering just above the relation zone.
While getting a manager of Allegri’s ilk would be a massive coup for West Ham, it wouldn’t be the best fit as things could get sure pretty quickly, considering he would likely want to be a club much higher up the Premier League table.

What’s inevitable is Lopetegui’s departure, and the loss at the King Power has only reinforced fans’ belief that he’s not the right man for the job.
The Spanish manager can’t have any complaints when he’s dismissed, and despite the performance against Leicester not warranting a defeat, the Hammers have been poor for most of the campaign.
A young and progressive head coach is what the Irons need right now rather than someone like Allegri.
In other West Ham news, Mark Noble has been mooted as a potential candidate to replace Lopetegui.
