Mason Mount sends message to Declan Rice as West Ham United transfer departure to Arsenal confirmed
Manchester United summer signing Mason Mount sent a four word Instagram message to Declan Rice as the midfielder confirmed his West Ham United departure.
Mount, best friends with Rice, commented on Rice’s instagram post as the England international sent a heartfelt message to the West Ham fans with his move to Arsenal set to be officially announced.
West Ham confirmed via their official website (15 July) that Rice had left the club after spending a decade with the Irons having come through their academy.
And in an instagram message from Mount to his England teammate and friend, sent a four-word message saying:
“Special journey, special player.”
Special player indeed
After completing his big-money move to Manchester United from Chelsea, Mount has now congratulated his best mate on his own move in two of the biggest transfer deals of the country, amounting to a whopping £160m.
Though, these are two of the best and most decorated in the country so Arsenal and United can have no complaints about the money they’re spending. Rice is a specialy player indeed.
The England international is a sensational player, arguably one of the best in his position on the continent and such a talent deserves a shot and a chance to prove himself at Champions League level, and Arsenal is the perfect platform for him to achieve his next steps to greatness.
West Ham have certainly lost a prestigious asset, but more crucially a homegrown one and whether the club look to continue that tradition from the youth setup or buy an English talent in the market remains to be seen but the club must give a young player the burgeoning opportunity they once gave Rice seven years ago.
Those fairytale traditions musn’t stop with him.
