Martin Allen: West Ham went for quality over quantity this summer
West Ham went for quality and not quantity this summer, claims former Hammers midfielder Martin Allen as he discusses the transfer window.
The London outfit roped in Alphonse Areola, Kurt Zouma, Alex Kral and Nikola Vlasic as their first-team signings.
Despite not signing Jesse Lingard permanently or buying a new striker, Allen was impressed with the window his former side had.

Speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast, the talkSPORT pundit said, “I can’t believe it.
“Some of the players we’ve signed, I feel we’ve gone for quality and not quantity. They’ve found the right characters.
“The two Czech lads have brought over one of their teammates [Alex Kral] and I think he’ll be a good find.”
Spot on
There were a number of anxious fans going into the final weeks of the window when the club hadn’t signed any big names.
However, looking back, while there may be a few low points, it has to be looked at as an impressive window from the club.

Given all that’s going on with regards to the takeover, the board could have said that their hands were tied and not given David Moyes the money to spend.
However, they addressed most of the departments he felt was important and the side look set for another top half finish at the very least.
While the goal will certainly be to finish in the top six and possibly push for Champions League spots again, realistically Moyes would take sixth once more and further strengthen the squad next summer.
