Martin Allen takes dig at Tim Steidten ahead of Liverpool v West Ham United

Martin Allen has taken a sly dig at Tim Steidten as West Ham United prepare for their Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool at Anfield.

The former Hammers midfielder posted on X [25 September] pondered whether the technical director will “be on the pitch” should the Irons win their third-round tie.

Allen’s jibe comes after Steidten undertook a media interview with TNT Sports ahead of the club’s Premier League match with Chelsea at the London Stadium last weekend.

The post read: “If we win, will Timothy be on the pitch after the game with the players? Interesting.”

Tim Steidten taking front-facing West Ham role

If there’s one thing noted about Steidten, he’s not shy.

The media obligations for television do not tend to involve boardroom and backroom staff, but the German has taken it upon himself to lead a front-facing role with the Irons.

Steidten has been a popular figure with much of the East London fanbase due to his ambitious nature in the transfer market and clear intentions to move the club forward with the times, though this season has started sluggishly.

Every crucial figure at a football club adds an element of personality to the manner in which they work, and the brash European confidence of the Hammers’ technical director – a good foil for the equivalent Mark Noble in the sporting director role – is how it is going to be.
