Martin Allen predicts West Ham ace Bowen to have Liverpool player on toast

Martin Allen has predicted Jarrod Bowen will have Andy Robertson “on toast” when West Ham welcome Liverpool on Sunday.

Bowen has been a standout performer for the Hammers this term and scored his fifth goal of the season in his side’s 1-0 win against Southampton on Thursday (26 December).

That marked the 28-year-old’s third goal involvement in four games and Allen backed the in-form attacker to give Scotland international Robertson a rough ride at the London Stadium (29 December).

Posting on X, Allen wrote: “Bowen 1v1 with the old Scotsman at left back Robertson.

“OMG. He will have him on toast.

“Outside, inside, shoot, left-footed, 1-0.”

Jarrod Bowen will need to shine for West Ham again v Liverpool

With the Hammers preparing to take on a Liverpool side that are on fire, it will no doubt be a tough game for Julen Lopetegui’s side against the league leaders.

Bowen has easily been the player of the season for the East London outfit so far and with links to a move to Anfield in the summer [Roshane Thomas], it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 28-year-old put on another impressive display.

However, Allen might be looking at this one a bit too optimistically given the Reds have conceded just 17 goals all season, in comparison to the Irons conceding 30.

Lopetegui’s side have it in them to get a goal against Arne Slot’s team and if anyone is going to be scoring you’d probably put money on it being Bowen, so he may well find himself on the score sheet again.

However, it will need a collective effort from the whole team, not just the in-form Bowen, to spring an upset on the league leaders and it might not be quite as straight-forward as Allen alludes to.

In other West Ham news, Lopetegui’s side are considering a move for a Championship midfielder after a new contract development.
