Mark Chapman stunned by ‘startling’ Bournemouth vs West Ham info, Rob Green explains what happened
Mark Chapman was in disbelief when looking at the stats from West Ham’s draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.
West Ham drew 2-2 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, with the Hammers ultimately forced to settle for a point despite going 2-0 up in the first half.
Marcus Tavernier had got a goal back for the home side from the penalty spot after the break, before Enes Unal found the equaliser with his first touches after coming off the bench.
Callum Wilson was praised for his performance against Bournemouth, with the striker finding the net twice in the first half against his former club.
Max Kilman arguably could have been sent off against Bournemouth, and the defender can count himself lucky to have got away with just giving away a penalty.

Alphonse Areola looked set to leave West Ham in the summer, after the Hammers bought Mads Hermansen and attempted to sign John Victor, too.
Ultimately, however, the Frenchman stayed put and reclaimed his place in the starting XI, starting the last eight Premier League games in light of Hermansen’s terrible start.
Areola has not always been a favourite at the London Stadium, even at the best of times, but there can be no doubt that the goalkeeper earned his side a point on Saturday.

| Minutes played | 90 |
| Assists | 1 |

| Goals prevented | 2.49 |
| Saves inside box | 8 |
The 32-year-old made an incredible 10 saves against Bournemouth, constantly batting away volleys of opposition attacks.
The home side would end the game having taken 28 shots across the 90 minutes, and having created 4.04 expected goals. The majority of those came in the second half, with West Ham holding on for dear life by the end of the game.
Looking at the numbers, Chapman told BBC Match of the Day on Saturday: “The stats are startling from Bournemouth’s point of view to what they did in the first and second half, so what changed Rob?”
Also on the panel, former West Ham goalkeeper Rob Green explained: “Well, it was a tale of two subs for West Ham, and one for Bournemouth. You’re looking at a tale of change in emphasis for West Ham.”
Green explained that Nuno Espirito Santo‘s decision to take off Wilson for Tomas Soucek in an attempt to see out the game, and the introduction of Unal for Bournemouth, were key moments.
Nuno Espirito Santo encouraged despite squandered lead
Three weeks ago, West Ham fans likely would have bit your hand off for a point away against Bournemouth.
Despite ultimately having squandered a two-goal lead, the Hammers have now secured seven points from a possible nine.
“The boys were organised but were missing the pass to go out of pressure, to really hurt them with space, under tough circumstances,” Nuno said after full-time on Saturday.
“But the positive is that I think the team was resilient, was organised, was compact and was really committed.”
Liverpool are up next for West Ham, with Arne Slot’s side having lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
