Manuel Lanzini compared to Philippe Coutinho by Robbie Keane

Robbie Keane has compared West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini to Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho, labelling him as ‘unbelievable’.

Lanzini has been in terrific form recently, scoring three goals in the last four Premier League games for the Hammers as they sit in fourth place.

Former striker Keane was appearing on Sky Sports when he compared the Argentine midfielder to new Aston Villa loanee Coutinho [via Football.London], who made a name for himself with Liverpool and Barcelona before returning to the Premier League with Villa this month.

“Lanzini, he kind of reminds me of Coutinho in the way he plays in terms of technique and low centre of gravity,” Keane said.

“Some of the goals he scores are incredible. He’s really stepped up. He’s got unbelievable technique. When I say Coutinho, I mean quick feet and very, very sharp.”

Playmaker

Lanzini has been a key player for the Irons this season, with David Moyes often deploying him into a new role in midfield slightly deeper than his usual number ten position.

He’s forced himself back into the team under Moyes recently and West Ham have been better for it, winning four-in-a-row before their recent defeat to Leeds.

Lanzini has a great eye for a pass, speed of thought and energy to be able to play in midfield with the game ahead of him.

If there is a striker in the league that knows how important a top midfield player behind him it’s Keane.

West Ham are preparing for their next Premier League game, taking on Manchester United at the weekend at Old Trafford.
