Manchester United to sanction Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit after Diogo Dalot contract news
West Ham United have been linked with a move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka – and they could be in with a shot of landing the defender after the latest contract news to emerge from Old Trafford.
Manchester United have triggered a one-year contract extension on Diogo Dalot’s current deal, and that could now see the Red Devils sanction an exit for the former Crystal Palace full-back (Sky Sports News, clip from Football Daily, 20 December).
Dalot’s deal was due to expire in the summer of 2023, and the Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano suggested (Here We Go podcast, Monday 19 December) that extending the 23-year-old’s contract was a top priority.
The Italian journalist also revealed that finding a solution for Wan-Bissaka is also high on the to-do list at Old Trafford, and now that Dalot is set to stay at the club beyond the end of this season, Erik ten Hag may well feel more comfortable about allowing the 25-year-old to depart.
West Ham, along with Wolves and Crystal Palace are all understood to have shown an interest in the defender, with talks currently ongoing. Wan-Bissaka has featured just once in the Premier League in the 2022/23 season and looks to be out of ten Hag’s current plans.

Vladimir Coufal still faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium with (Claret and Hugh, 16 December) suggesting he could still depart despite the club holding a two-year option on his deal. Therefore another right back could well be on the agenda for David Moyes.
Harrison Ashby also looks set to leave the club with ExWHUemployee suggesting (West Ham Way podcast at 5:25, 19, December) the youngster is set to join Newcastle United.
If these transfer pieces fall into place, it would not be a surprise to see the Irons up their pursuit of Wan-Bissaka.
