Manchester United condition emerges for Scott McTominay sale as West Ham United make contact

West Ham have made it known to Manchester United that they want to sign Scott McTominay this summer, according to the Guardian.

The media outlet reported [25 July] that the Red Devils will sell the Scotland international on the condition that £40million is shelled out to sign him.

The 26-year-old is aware that he needs to be playing regularly in order to be a regular in his national team ahead of the EUROs next summer.

Too expensive

McTominay is a decent player but the valuation is far too high and it’s not something the Hammers should be considering.

They have been willing to pay that kind of money for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha or Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher but the Manchester United midfielder is clearly not as good as either of them.

If they rated him as highly and if he is available at this price, a bid would already have gone in for him.

It remains to be seen how high the Scotsman is on David Moyes’ priority list this summer as they need two quality midfielders.

Declan Rice’s absence has left a huge void in the middle of the park and getting one player to fulfil that role is nigh on impossible.

Hopefully, Edson Alvarez and one of Palhinha or Gallagher is signed by the Hammers this summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
