Ederson ruled out of Manchester City v West Ham United in major injury blow – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester City shot-stopper Ederson is set to miss the clash against West Ham United on the final day of the Premier League season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer specialist reported via X [16 May] that the Brazilian suffered a small fracture to his eye socket during Man City’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Tuesday 14 May, having collided with Cristian Romero.

The Hammers are set to travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 19 May as all the Premier League sides kick-off for the season finale, and Stefan Ortega is set to be in goal for the home side.

Although West Ham have little to fight for anymore, having missed out on the European places in the Premier League, David Moyes will be hoping to end his tenure with a win.

The Irons have been unable to take three points away from Man City since a 2-1 away win in September 2015, where Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho scored to secure the victory.

It will certainly be a very difficult task again this weekend as Pep Guardiola’s side close in on a fourth consecutive Premier League title and hope to pip Arsenal yet again.

The Gunners are just two points behind and will be welcoming Everton to Emirates Stadium. A number of different outcomes could play out, one of which being Declan Rice lifting his first league title.

There would be a mixed reaction if that were the outcome to happen, while some fans just cannot be happy to see a former player do well, though that would require West Ham to take at least a point away from a City side who have not lost since December.

Weirder things have certainly happened in football, but it might take a miracle for Moyes to end his West Ham managerial career with a win over Man City, not just an injury blow to Ederson.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been rejected by Edin Terzic.
