Mads Hermansen left ‘shocked’ after what Axel Disasi said at West Ham
Mads Hermansen cannot believe how quickly Axel Disasi has adapted to life at West Ham United.
Disasi moved to London Stadium on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day and has quickly developed into one of the Hammers’ most important players.
The 27-year-old has played every single minute in the Premier League since his arrival, helping Nuno Espirito Santo’s side keep two clean sheets and only concede one goal.
He impressed once again, alongside the revitalised Konstantinos Mavropanos, as West Ham drew 0-0 with Bournemouth on Saturday to move a point closer to 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Axel Disasi has come in from the cold
Disasi was completely out of favour at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca and was even banned from training with the first-team squad at one point.
The centre-back didn’t make a single senior appearance during the first six months of the season, playing just three games for the Under-21s.
In fact, before his move to West Ham, the centre-back hadn’t featured in a first-team match since April 2025, while he was on loan at Aston Villa.
Hammers keeper Hermansen was left shocked when he was told about Disasi’s lengthy spell away from senior football following the 2-0 win over Burnley.
The Dane was quick to praise the Chelsea loanee though, adding that he has brought a lot of stability to the defence.
Hermansen said: “I actually asked Axel after the Burnley game when he last played, and when he said it was April, I was a bit shocked. He’s brought a lot of stability to the defence, and on the ball as well, he is really good. Together with Dinos (Mavropanos), I think he’s been amazing.”

Axel Disasi can fire West Ham to safety
West Ham started their turnaround in the middle of January, and Disasi has just helped continue that good form over the last few weeks.
Nuno’s side are now just two points adrift of Nottingham Forest, and only four points behind Tottenham in the race for survival.

On current form, the Hammers look on track to retain their Premier League status, especially if they replicate their superb defensive record from the last three games for the rest of the season.
Disasi will be key to West Ham’s chances of avoiding relegation, and you wouldn’t bet against the East London side with the Frenchman at the back.
