Lucas Paqueta FA hearing twist emerges at West Ham United

West Ham United sources suggest that Lucas Paqueta’s FA hearing is not “set in stone”, according to Sean Whetstone.

Whetstone reported via the West Ham Football X account (6 October) that sources close to the club have confirmed that March 2025 is the most likely date for the Brazilian’s hearing, but that could still change in the future.

Reports emerged from The Sun on Sunday (6 October, page 54) that the midfielder’s hearing for alleged spot-fixing is set to take place in the spring of next year, with some at the London Stadium frustrated that it will take place during the season.

The Brazilian has denied the allegations of intentionally getting booked throughout the saga.

Will Lucas Paqueta be banned at West Ham United?

It would be a massive blow to the Hammers if they were to lose Paqueta before the end of the season, particularly as it has been suggested the Brazilian could face a lifetime ban if he is found guilty of spot-fixing.

While some will suggest the attacking midfielder has been nowhere near his best so far this term, the Irons are undoubtedly a better team when he is playing regularly as he brings a touch of class and quality that cannot be undervalued.

Alongside the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen, the Brazilian is one of the Hammers’ most important players. Keeping him fit and available for selection will be integral to Julen Lopetegui’s tenure as a whole.

Hopefully, that hearing will be delayed ever so slightly until the end of the season. At least then, West Ham won’t be running the risk of derailing their campaign in the final months of the campaign if Paqueta is found guilty.

In an ideal world, the Hammers star won’t be found guilty and the Irons will be able to carry on as if nothing ever happened.
