Lord Alan Sugar praises GSB for connection with West Ham fans
Lord Alan Sugar has hit out at some big Premier League sides while claiming GSB have a close connection to the West Ham fans.
The Apprentice star and former Tottenham Hotspur chairman was speaking on talkSPORT’s White & Jordan show [12/05/21] where he was asked about the recent attempts by six Premier League clubs to form a breakaway European Super League.
His answers included a peculiar bit of praise for the owners of West Ham David Sullivan and David Gold, usually bracketed under ‘GSB’ to include chairman Karren Brady as part of the group.
He called the Manchester United supremos “pseudo owners, as opposed to Chelsea and Manchester City where the owners are the owners really.”
He continued, “I’m trying to be polite but some of these clubs that are owned by giant corporations don’t have the feeling for the fans.
“When you’ve got some of the owners like West Ham, they’ve got a feeling for the fans, Leicester City have got a feeling for the fans.”
Baffling
If there’s one thing David Gold and David Sullivan don’t have it’s a close connection to the fans.
Lord Sugar claims that they have “a feeling for the fans” but if they do, then they’re even worse than we first thought.
Their ownership has been chaotic to say the least, and it’s only down to superb management from David Moyes over the last 18 months or so, that has seen us become a proper Premier League club again.
We were battling relegation last season after countless errors made by GSB off the pitch, and the entire reign has been a mess.
Discontent has been mounting for a number of years with the London Stadium considered a toxic environment by the media, and that’s because of our dislike of the owners.
Their inability to ‘read the room’ has been a pertinent issue of their ownership, so Lord Sugar has it completely wrong if he thinks there’s some kind of close relationship or bond between us and them.
