Jurgen Klopp makes admission over David Moyes future ahead of Liverpool vs West Ham United in EFL Cup
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised the work of David Moyes at West Ham and says the Scotsman is not as appreciated as he should be.
West Ham travel to Premier League rivals Liverpool for an EFL Cup quarter-final tie on Wednesday (20 December).
In his programme notes for the match, as per the club’s official website [20 December], Klopp suggested West Ham fans who want Moyes out should think twice.

“West Ham are a team that I really admire and in David Moyes they have a manager that I have enormous respect for,” he said. “What they achieved together last season in winning a European trophy was really special and I told David this at the time.
“I don’t know why it is but it sometimes feels that David’s work is not always appreciated as much as it should be but this is certainly not the case for me.
“Whenever we face his teams I know that we are in for a proper test. This is not a coincidence – it is because he is a manager who has great experience, knowledge and ability.
“Maybe because we live in an era in which it is easy to want change and to believe someone else might do better, some can overlook those qualities but, as I’ve said, I never will.”
Not helping
Moyes is in a good place right now thanks to successive wins over Freiburg and Wolves over the past week.
With a place in the last 16 of the Europa League secured, and the Irons now up to eighth in the Premier League, everything is rosy again.
All it takes is a couple of negative results, though, for the fanbase to start to turn on Moyes once again.
The club are not exactly helping the situation as the 60-year-old is due to be out of contract at the end of the campaign, causing plenty of uncertainty.

As Klopp rightly says, the grass is not always greener on the other side. However, a new manager may well be able to build on the impressive foundations laid by Moyes and take West Ham even further.
That is the predicament United find themselves in as we enter 2024. Ultimately, if Moyes continues winning games then he is surely deserving of a new deal.
And victory at Anfield tonight would only strengthen the claim of those who believe Moyes should indeed stay on beyond this campaign.
In other West Ham news, Moyes must hurry to find a solution to a “significant problem” United are soon to face.
