Liverpool open to loan offers for West Ham-linked Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Liverpool are reportedly open to offers for West Ham-linked Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
According to talkSPORT, Southampton have also registered an interest in signing the versatile England international on loan.
Recently, ExWHUemployee reported that the Hammers have the 27-year-old on their transfer list and could look to sign him if they fail to land their preferred targets.
Worth a punt
We’re in dire need of bodies in midfield and while Oxlade-Chamberlain wouldn’t be the first choice for most Hammers fans, we’ll eventually warm up to the idea of having the Liverpool midfielder at the club at least for a season, on a temporary basis.
The 27-year-old is extremely versatile as he can play as a winger, wing-back, full-back, defensive as well as an attacking midfielder.
He’s also tremendously quick and agile and has the ability to take players on and beat them with his sheer tenacity.
What’s lacking, however, is his end product. He fails to deliver good numbers for goals and assists and that’s probably what has stopped him from reaching the next level.
Another telling aspect is the number of injuries he’s faced of late, making it risky for any club that decides to sign him outright.
He has been praised previously by Jurgen Klopp, who in 2017, referred to him as “dynamite” for the energy he brought to the side. [SB Nation]
We could do with some of that energy as our midfield desperately needs some guile and Oxlade-Chamberlain could be the man to provide us with that.
