Liverpool give green light to West Ham Divock Origi pursuit

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that if Divock Origi wants to leave Liverpool for West Ham then they will have to find a solution in January.

The Belgian striker has been in good form for the Anfield side recently, scoring an injury-time winner against Wolves in the Premier League before a goal against AC Milan in the Champions League to add to his reel of important goals for the club.

But with just six months remaining on his contract at Anfield, West Ham have been linked via The Sun with a potential move for the 26-year-old to provide attacking competition in the squad.

With the January transfer window approaching, Klopp was asked about whether player’s contract situations affects his team selection and he was adamant it didn’t, but admitted if anyone wants to leave then a solution must be found.

“It’s a completely normal situation,” he said. “We don’t talk about or have to talk about the potential of these boys or whatever. It’s about what makes sense for both sides in six or 18 months.

“It’s not important at the moment at all. In the moment it’s actually important how can you contribute in the moment when you play.

“It’s not only the two players which you mentioned, but we will not stay together forever. That’s how it is, and if somebody wants to go somewhere else, we have to find a solution.”

Get it done

It’s quite clear that one area of the West Ham squad that needs improvement is the attack, and Origi would offer that as an option.

With just six months remaining on his contract, the 31-cap international would provide some great attacking depth and experience of the league that would only boost the Hammers.

He’d likely be available on a cut-price deal too which makes it more attractive and it doesn’t seem as though Liverpool would make it too tough to get a deal done, despite Klopp regarding him as a ‘special‘ player.

Origi would bring goals, movement, pace and would fit in well with the rest of the squad and thus it’s a no-brainer to get him in.
