Lianne Sanderson stunned by Arsenal-Aaron Ramsdale pursuit amid West Ham-Jesse Lingard struggles

Lianne Sanderson has questioned West Ham and Arsenal’s activities in the transfer market as the north London side close in on a major signing.

The former England international, writing on her personal Twitter profile, expressed her disbelief that Arsenal are set to sign Aaron Ramsdale for big money [Sky Sports] while West Ham struggle to stump up for Jesse Lingard.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “I’m sorry but Ramsdale is potentially going to cost more than Lingard? Just seen West Ham are potentially not going to reach the asking price of £25million which is a bargain in this day and age. But Arsenal are willing to pay £30million for Ramsdale plus £30million for [Martin] Odegaard? Heads gone.”

Mad money

Arsenal certainly aren’t messing around in the transfer market this summer as they aim to spend their way back into the European places.

However, the way they are spending it is raising some eyebrows, and splashing the cash on a two-time relegated goalkeeper has shocked many.

What’s more is that he is not guaranteed to be their number one shot-stopper and is likely to play back-up to Bernd Leno at the beginning of his time at the Emirates Stadium.

Yet West Ham, who have qualified for Europe this year, something Arsenal have failed to do, cannot afford to sign one of the stars of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign for a similar price? [Daily Mail]

West Ham

As much as it reflects badly on Arsenal, it also does on the Irons.

We are yet to make any senior outfield signings this summer despite the season starting last weekend.

A busy last couple of weeks of the window is vital.
