Latest Newcastle move a worry for West Ham United Armando Broja hopes

Newcastle are reportedly trimming their squad as they look to bring in new additions and this could be a blow for West Ham in their pursuit of Armando Broja.

The Daily Mail has reported on 6 July that the Magpies have sent Dwight Gayle, Jeff Hendrick and Ciaran Clark to train with the under-23s as the club look to make room for new arrivals.

Sky Sports reported (3 July) that the Magpies are eying a summer move for Chelsea youngster Broja and they could now be in a position to move for the 20-year-old as Howe begins to trim his squad.

This could be bad news for David Moyes and West Ham who have been long-term admirers of the Albanian with Sky Sports suggesting (21 June) that the Hammers were set to bid £30million for the striker.

However, the Irons will face a tough task landing the forward if Newcastle move fringe players out of St James’ Park.

Newcastle have shown plenty of ambition this summer and are certainly in the market for a striker to lead the line for Howe’s side.

It is understandable why Broja is under consideration by the Magpies and Moyes must move quickly if he wants to draw the Albanian to the London Stadium this summer.

Broja looks the ideal candidate to challenge Michail Antonio for the number nine shirt at the London Stadium and would give the Hammers much-needed depth up front.

Too often Moyes overused Antonio in the 2021/22 season.

If another adequate striker was present at the London Stadium last season then there would’ve been a good chance of the Hammers securing Europa League football.

Newcastle will be hot on the tale of Broja and Moyes simply has to respond.
