Latest Chelsea news is a concern for West Ham United and Declan Rice

News of Thomas Tuchel being given the lead on Chelsea’s transfer dealings is a worry for West Ham and the future of Declan Rice.

The Telegraph [7 June] has suggested that Chelsea’s hierarchy are eager to bring the club closer to the models of Manchester City and Liverpool.

This news should come as a worry to West Ham with Rice being consistently linked to a return to his boyhood club.

According to journalist Dean Jones, Thomas Tuchel is keen on the England midfielder.

Talking on the Ranks FC Podcast [quoted by FanNation, 1 June], Jones said: “The other one (Thomas) Tuchel really, really, really wants is Declan Rice.

“This is back on the table.

“Obviously, there is the huge issue of his fee.”

Chelsea always seems like the most logical move for Rice to make if he ever does leave the London Stadium.

He came through Blues academy and it feels as if there is unfinished business in West London for the midfielder.

Any transfer for Rice will command a huge fee, but news of Chelsea’s multi-billion pound takeover after months of unrest will certainly open the door for a potential move across London.

West Ham

It would be hard to see the England midfielder move to another side in the big six.

A move to Manchester United would be a sideways move at present and Manchester City seem to be focussing their attention on Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips [90min, 3 June].

Therefore Chelsea is the obvious move for Rice if he wishes to play Champions League football and contest for the biggest trophies on a regular basis.

In other West Ham news, a deal is on the cards to sign a forward who Moyes once compared to Wayne Rooney.
