Kurt Zouma turns down move to West Ham

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has turned down a move to West Ham United, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Irons have been left disappointed at the collapse of the deal.

David Moyes has made a move for a defender his priority this month and is likely to move his attention to Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.

West Ham had held talks with Chelsea over a fee, but didn’t get any further than that as we entered August.

There was hope over the deal, with talks said to be progressing over personal terms at the start of this week.

They haven’t progressed, and despite his desire to stay in London, it won’t be with the Hammers next season.

Chelsea are also reportedly left frustrated, as they look to bring in funds to sign Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

Move on.

We can’t feel sorry for ourselves and have to move on quickly to secure another one of our priority targets.

Maksimovic of Fiorentina is in the final year of his contract and could be available for as low as £12.8million this month [Eleonora Trotta].

If true, that is more than half the price of what Zouma will have cost, with his wages also likely to be much lower.

The Serbian international has captained his side at the young age of 23-years-old and will bring some great experience.

With the season less than two weeks away, we need reinforcements and now all eyes are on Milenkovic, it can get done quickly.
