Kurt Zouma shares why he joined West Ham

Kurt Zouma has revealed he joined West Ham from Chelsea in the summer to get regular games.

The 26-year-old joined the Hammers in the summer transfer window from their London rivals for a fee of £29.8million, on a four-year deal.

The experienced defender has impressed heavily in two Premier League games he has played so far, including the 2-1 victory over Leeds United at the weekend.

Zouma has suggested that he has joined the Hammers in order to play regularly and feels that it is a club that want to progress and grow.

The former Chelsea defender has said that David Moyes has played a big role in convincing him to switch clubs, adding that the Hammers did an exceptional job last season to qualify for the Europa League.

“I needed to play more,” said Zouma to Canal Plus

“Obviously I was in a team that was doing really well. Coming here has allowed me to compete more to play. It’s a club that wants to progress and grow. And I want to be part of this project.”

“What already seduced me is the club. I think it’s a good club that is making great progress,” Zouma added, as relayed by football.london.

“They did an exceptional job last year to qualify for the Europa League. And there, we will have a difficult group, we can do something this year.”

Massive signing.

Zouma has been a top signing for the Hammers who shelled out a big-money transfer fee to sign him from their London rivals.

The Frenchman spent seven successful years at Chelsea where he won two Premier League titles, a Champions League and a League Cup.

Defensively very solid, Zouma is good in the air, strong with his passing and reads the game very well.

Above all, his wealth of experience will come in handy for Moyes’ side that are looking to consolidate their position just below the top four.

The fact that Zouma saw growth and potential at West Ham suggests what remarkable work Moyes has been doing.

West Ham have made a solid start to their Premier League campaign and find themselves seventh in the league table. The Hammers will face Rapid Vienna next in the Europa League clash on Thursday.
