Kurt Zouma sends West Ham United teammate Angelo Ogbonna two-word message as contract decision made

Kurt Zouma has sent Angelo Ogbonna a two-word message after the latter signed a contract extension at West Ham.

As per the official West Ham website, the 35-year-old Italian defender has committed his future to the club for another year.

Ogbonna joined the Hammers from Serie A club Juventus in 2015, and has made 232 appearances for the East London outfit.

“We are delighted to confirm that Ogbonna has signed a new one-year contract,” West Ham posted on Instagram.

And fellow Hammers defender Zouma commented: “Uncle Ang’”.

Key experience

Zouma and Ogbonna clearly have a strong bond both on and off the pitch, with the duo key figures last season as West Ham stayed in the Premier League and won the Europa Conference League trophy.

Zouma has another defensive partner in Nayef Aguerd, with that pairing seemingly the number one choice for manager David Moyes.

But the Hammers boss switched things up constantly last time out as he tried his best to keep his players fresh and able to compete in all competitions.

All three centre-backs were crucial at various stages of the season, with all three forced to sit out at various moments due to injury struggles.

At 35, Ogbonnna is the most experienced of them all, and he will no doubt play a key role once again next season, albeit more often than not from the substitute bench.

But his experience will be key, with the defender certain to come on late in matches to help see out victories, just like he did in the Europa Conference League final.
