Kurt Zouma reacts to Michail Antonio celebration v Tottenham
West Ham United secured a hard-fought victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium on Sunday, with Michail Antonio the hero.
The 31-year-old striker turned in Aaron Cresswell’s corner after beating his marker Harry Kane, and he followed through with one of his unusual celebrations.
Antonio mimicked the hero from the popular 1999 sci-fi movie The Matrix, leaning backwards to the point he nearly fell over – but Kurt Zouma and others held him up to prevent that from happening.
The Frenchman has seen the hilarious side of the move, taking to his personal Instagram account to post how he felt seeing the Jamaican international make the move.
Zouma said: “Was scared for a second.”
Antonio does not only score goals, he also has a fitting celebration for most of them, and it was no different yesterday.
The West Ham ace showed remarkable physicality to pull off the Matrix-inspired move, and Neo (Keanu Reeves) would have been proud.
Zouma did not get the memo early, and his fears are understandable.
The striker’s other teammates were not surprised, though, and the centre-back has to get used to the different celebrations Antonio keeps pulling out of the hat.
The West Ham hitman has been in fine form so far in 2021-22, bagging six goals in eight league games so far.
He definitely has plans to fire the Hammers to Europe again this term and possibly end their trophy drought.
With more goals still to come from the forward, there are more celebrations to watch out for, and Zouma should have nothing to worry about anytime he sees Antonio busting out one of his moves.
In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
