Kurt Zouma likely to start for West Ham vs Southampton

West Ham summer signing Kurt Zouma is expected to be thrown straight into the mix and make his Hammers debut vs Southampton, per Football London.

The French defender was one of the priorities for David Moyes in the transfer window, and having got his man, he’s likely to put him in his playing eleven from the very first game.

Typically, Moyes has taken his time to introduce new signings to the fold, but he is unlikely to follow suit with the 26-year-old.

Good news

Centre-back was one of the problem positions for Moyes last season and he made it a point to address it this summer.

There were credible reports linking the Hammers with Nikola Milenkovc, but Zouma is the player they eventually went for.

The former Chelsea defender has amassed years of experience in the Premier League and has also won several trophies in his career – something that Moyes would appreciate a great deal.

He was also one of former manager Frank Lampard’s favourites at Chelsea, but never managed to make the cut for Thomas Tuchel.

In December last year, Lampard said, via the club’s official website, “He had injuries and went on loan a couple of times but he trains so well, he doesn’t miss a day, he wants to do extras and be better.

“Those things for me are absolutely fundamental for a player to improve and right now the level he’s playing at week-in, week-out is brilliant.”

It will be interesting to see how he fares against Southampton, but we’re backing him to have a solid outing for the Hammers.
