Kurt Zouma comments on marking Antonio ahead of battle with Kane
Kurt Zouma has become a key player for West Ham since joining in the summer, and he is looking forward to Sunday’s game with Tottenham Hotspur.
The France international centre-back, 26, knows he has to be on top of his game to have a chance of keeping Harry Kane quiet, but his daily tussles with Michail Antonio in training has prepared him for Sunday’s battle.
The Hammers striker is one of the strongest players in the top-flight, and Zouma – who cost £30million upon moving from Chelsea [BBC] – admits playing against him at Rush Green has not been easy.
“Trust me, he is very difficult to handle,” the defender told Evening Standard about the Jamaican international.
“He is a top striker. He’s got everything — fast, accurate, dangerous, good on the ball, good finisher. He can hold the ball very well, his movements are good.
“I mean a top striker at the minute — and you can see he is flying.”
Spot-on
Zouma has come up against some of the best forwards on the planet and he knows a top striker when he sees one.
Antonio has five goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances so far this term, and he will be looking to deliver the goods against Spurs having gone the last two games without being directly involved in goals.
He will surely be giving the Tottenham defence a tough game, and outshining Kane would be at the back of his mind.
The England international finally opened his account for the season at St. James’ Park last weekend, scoring once and assisting another in the 3-2 win.
Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna have a big job on their hands coming up against Kane, Son Heung-min and co, and keeping a clean sheet will be their top target.
In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
