Konstantinos Mavropanos ‘frustrated’ with how things are going at West Ham United
Konstantinos Mavropanos is “frustrated” by his situation at West Ham United, according to journalist Paul Brown.
The Greek centre-back was signed from Stuttgart in the summer transfer window for a reported £20million fee (Evening Standard) but has largely acted as back-up to Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.
Indeed, Mavropanos has only started two Premier League games for the Hammers, the latter of which was the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday (3 December) in which he made a costly error that led to Palace’s equaliser.

Brown, speaking to GIVEMESPORT (5 December), says Mavropanos will play plenty of games this season but is not entirely happy with how things have gone.
“I’m sure Mavropanos is frustrated at how things are going because he probably came in thinking that he’d get into this team quite quickly and that hasn’t really happened,” Brown said.
“So anytime he plays and doesn’t really take his chance with both hands is just going to be even more frustrating for him.
“But David Moyes won’t hold that against him particularly, he’s going to be used at times this season, and they’re going to need him. West Ham are going to be playing a lot of games this season and I think you’ll see him play a lot more.”

Step up
On the one hand you can understand Mavropanos’ frustrations. He would have expected to play a prominent role after moving back to the Premier League from the Bundesliga and it has not really panned out that way.
But, conversely, you do not get any handouts in the Premier League and Zouma and Aguerd have been a pretty decent partnership at the back for David Moyes this season so the Greek defender has had to be patient.
What will frustrate him most is that against Palace he was performing pretty well on the whole and looked quite comfortable, but his one lapse in concentration proved costly as Odsonne Edouard pounced to equalise.
What he has to do now is knuckle down, work hard, and wait for his chance because December and January are typically busy months in English football so there is sure to be plenty of chances that come his way in the coming weeks.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have a David Moyes sack decision to make as a manager they like has been linked with a move to another English team.
