Karren Brady contradicts shock David Sullivan ‘whispers’ at West Ham

Karren Brady has contradicted reports that David Sullivan didn’t want to appoint Graham Potter as West Ham manager.

The Englishman was appointed as head coach of the Hammers on 9 January and met with “whispers” that the chairman isn’t convinced that the ex-Brighton boss isn’t the right appointment [Andy Goldstein].

Regardless of this, the 49-year-old looks set to take charge of his first game as Irons boss against Aston Villa while Brady fights his corner.

Speaking out on his appointment to The Sun (10 January), she said: “In Graham Potter, we have recruited another very good man, a hugely respected elite Premier League coach, and someone who was the unanimous choice of our Board to steer our project back in the right direction.”

There was plenty of frustration building around Julen Lopetegui until he was eventually sacked at the London Stadium.

Now excitement is beginning to build around the appointment of Potter who looks set to take charge of his first game in charge against Aston Villa.

Regardless of supporters being happy with the former Swansea City head coach coming in, it did appear that Sullivan wasn’t sure about the deal.

This rang alarm bells in East London considering the frustrations that had built before eventually parting ways with the Spanish manager.

That now looks to have been false given what Brady has said about the London Stadium board in the lead-up to the clash at Villa Park which should instil confidence in the new Irons’ boss.

This could help to give the squad and manager a boost as the Irons move into the second half of the season under their new gaffer.
