Juventus join West Ham in race to sign Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile

West Ham have reportedly been joined by Juventus in the race to sign Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile this summer.

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old French defender.

The Hammers are believed to be keen on signing a centre-back this summer despite bringing in Kurt Zouma at the start of the season.

Zouma’s 19th minute header cancelled out Spurs’ early opener and ensured a point for West Ham.

Having a fellow Frenchman to partner Zouma would be an ideal setting for David Moyes.

They will be more communicative with each other and thus form a better understanding at the heart of the defence.

Due to the number of injuries this season, Zouma really hasn’t managed to build that sort of bond with another centre-back.

Should the Hammers manage to sign Badiashile, they will sort out their centre-back position for the next five seasons.

Over the last few years, it’s been their Achilles heel but it will now be one of their biggest strengths.

Much like Zouma, the 21-year-old is also good at bringing the ball out of defence and playing progressive passes and would be a perfect fit for this Hammers side.

The club must not spare any expense as Moyes has proven what he can do with a tight budget and he deserves to be backed with some quality players and additional funds this summer.
