Julen Lopetegui sack timeframe set at West Ham United as sources speak out

Julen Lopetegui has three West Ham United games to prove he can turn things around, according to GiveMeSport.

The news outlet reported via club sources on 24 September that the Spaniard will be “closely monitored” over the coming weeks against Brentford, Ipswich Town and Tottenham and, if things do not get better, his job will be “under threat”.

The report also adds that David Sullivan’s plan is to try and let the situation “work itself out” for as long as possible.

West Ham United need to move up the Premier League table

The Hammers are one of the biggest underachievers in this season’s edition of the Premier League, with the club currently residing in 14th place with just four points to their name.

What doesn’t seem to make sense is the fact that West Ham’s summer window was actually quite strong.

Key areas were targeted and fulfilled accordingly with the defence being the main focus point of the window.

Despite the saga the club had to go through [GiveMeSport, 5 August] with Juventus to finally seal a deal for £34million man Jean Clair-Todibo [Florian Plettenberg, 9 August], Lopetegui has seemingly refused to start the defender and has chosen to stick with Konstantinos Mavropanos instead.

Although it feels as if the former Wolves manager should be given time to make amends and try get his team back on track, if changes aren’t being made then there’s no point trying to stick it out.

It’s still early in the season of course and things can change in an instant, but there’s no doubt that the Spaniard will want his team to hit a run of form as soon as possible – his job depends on it.
