Julen Lopetegui appointment back on at West Ham United amid AC Milan development

West Ham could yet appointment Julen Lopetegui as their next manager, according to Jacob Steinberg.

The Guardian reporter posted via his personal X account on Monday (29 April) that a move for the Spaniard is “back on the table”.

Steinberg added that Lopetegui is now looking “far less likely” to become the next manager of AC Milan than it looked a couple of days ago.

West Ham’s interest in Lopetegui appeared to diminish amid the strong suggestions he was already lined up as the next boss at San Siro.

Julen Lopetegui back on West Ham United’s radar

David Moyes is still West Ham boss, and has yet to decide if he will move on in the summer, yet already the next manager talk is in overdrive.

Lopetegui looked to be a clear frontrunner for the job a week or so ago, only for Ruben Amorim to then overtake him in the running.

Both men were then out of the running all of a sudden, but there appears to have been another twist in the saga if this report is anything to go by.

Supporters have been split with regards to whether Lopetegui would be a good choice for the Irons.

Recency bias has a part to play in that as he was managing Wolves this time last year, but he boasts quite the CV in fairness.

And given that Milan were keen on the Europa League winner, he is clearly a man who has some stature in the game.

Even if Moyes is still at the helm, West Ham have every right to hold talks with Lopetegui and then decide if he is the man for the job.
