Julen Lopetegui to make Jean-Clair Todibo call for West Ham United clash with Liverpool

Jean Clair-Todibo is “expected” to start West Ham United’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.

The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (25 September) that the French defender will be handed his chance to stake his claim for a starting role during the Carabao Cup clash on Merseyside.

Julen Lopetegui is understood to be working to boost the former Nice man’s fitness having yet to hand him a start in any of the Irons’ opening five Premier League matches.

The Hammers travel to Anfield to face Arne Slot’s side on Wednesday (25 September) evening as they look to end their three-match winless run in all competitions.

What has happened to Jean-Clair Todibo at West Ham?

West Ham fans have been desperate to see more of Todibo this season and it finally seems as though the centre-back will be given his chance to impress both the supporters and his new manager at Anfield.

The Irons have had a poor start to the season and while it isn’t just the defence that have looked off of the pace, the likes of Konstantinos Mavropanos and Max Kilman have come in for some criticism already this term.

If Todibo impressed against Slot’s side on Wednesday night, he would almost certainly force his way into Lopetegui’s plans for the Premier League clash with Brentford this weekend, but he could also harm his chances if he struggles.

While it is unclear just how strong a team the Reds will name, an away game against Liverpool doesn’t tend to be an easy match for a visiting defender. Todibo will more than likely have his work cut out for him against some of the Premier League’s best players.

Hopefully, the Frenchman will banish any concerns over his fitness or ability with a strong and composed performance at the back.

The Hammers need him to perform and he needs to show that he isn’t set to be another flop.
