Julen Lopetegui sick of what he has heard at West Ham United
Julen Lopetegui must be sick of hearing opposition supporters calling for his West Ham United sacking, Pete Hall says.
The i journalist believes the Hammers showed signs of life as they lost 4-1 to Manchester City on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium (4 January).
However, the performance improvement may not be enough to save the Spanish manager from being relieved of his duties.
Hall wrote in The i Paper (6 January): “Signs of life, but it may not be enough to save Lopetegui, who must be as sick of hearing ‘sacked in the morning’ coming from opposition supporters as supermarket workers view Christmas songs in the run-up to the big day.
“To have double the amount of shots at goal to Manchester City – 17 – at the home of the most dominant Premier League force there has ever been is very West Ham.”
Julen Lopetegui can’t save West Ham United job
Lopetegui can’t save his job at the Irons after what the London Stadium faithful have witnessed this season.
It’s not just the opposition fans; the East London club’s supporters have called for the 58-year-old to be fired as they lost 3-1 to Leicester in December.
Despite strengthening in the summer window, the Hammers are in the bottom half of the Premier League table in January.
West Ham were expected to challenge for a European spot in the table this season, but they are far from it as things stand.

Lopetegui has failed to bring the best out of the squad at his disposal as they sit seven points above the relegation zone.
While the Irons seemingly aren’t at risk of going down to the Championship for now, it could become a reality if things don’t change.
The Spaniard has shown nothing to convince fans that he’s the right man for the job, and David Sullivan needs to pull the trigger.
It looks like the East London club’s hierarchy still have faith in the 58-year-old head coach and see the 2024/25 season as a write-off.
In other West Ham news, Sullivan’s recent decision regarding the winter transfer window could backfire.
