Julen Lopetegui agrees two-year contract as West Ham United to seal appointment

Julen Lopetegui will sign a two-year contract to become the new manager of West Ham United, according to talkSPORT.

The broadcaster has reported that the Irons will wrap up the appointment of the Spaniard on Wednesday 8 May, although the announcement won’t come then.

Out of respect to the outgoing David Moyes, the formal announcement looks set to be delayed after Lopetegui signs his contract at the London Stadium.

This has all come along very quickly, with West Ham finally confirming their plans with Moyes and his future at the London Stadium.

Confirming that Moyes will leave at the end of this season gives the fans the opportunity to give him the farewell he deserves against Luton on Saturday 11 May.

David Sullivan looks to have gone against Mark Noble and Tim Steidten with this decision, and only time will tell if he has made the right call.

David Sullivan has come under criticism from the fans during his time at West Ham

Sullivan has been called out over his decision to get the managerial situation sorted before Moyes officially exits the club, but some would just call it proper planning.

After Moyes’ move to ban Steidten from the training ground and dressing room though didn’t go down well, it looks as though things have turned slightly toxic.

Let’s hope Lopetegui can turn that around quickly when he arrives after the Premier League season concludes in a couple of weeks.
