Jude Bellingham shares Jarrod Bowen verdict as West Ham United star gets England cameo
Jude Bellingham was left impressed by West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen after his cameo in the 1-0 win for England over Serbia on Sunday 16 June.
Bowen posted on Instagram after the match with the message “off to a winning start”, and Bellingham labelled him “sharp”, reflecting the impact the Hammers winger made after coming on.
England had already been 1-0 up for over an hour thanks to Bellingham’s header 13 minutes into the contest, but within moments of replacing Bukayo Saka, Bowen had played a vital role in England almost doubling their lead.
Beating Filip Mladenovic down the right-hand side, Bowen’s pinpoint cross from the byline was met by Harry Kane, but his header was parried onto the bar by Predraj Rajkovic.
Jarrod Bowen provides much-needed England impact
“Sharp” was a spot-on verdict to describe Bowen’s 14-minute cameo against Serbia, and his creation of a glorious chance for Kane within just seconds of coming on showed that he has the quality and dynamism to excel at Euro 2024 [The Independent].
England began the game brightly, culminating with Bellingham’s early winner, but had faded and were arguably lucky to still be 1-0 up by the time Bowen came on in the 76th minute.

Phil Foden, far from an out-and-out winger, had struggled to unlock the Serbian defence for large portions of the match, and although Bowen replaced Saka on the opposite flank, his immediate impact showed the value of having players who can stretch the play.
Substituted on ahead of Anthony Gordon, Bowen’s dazzling late cameo could be enough to earn him a starting place against Denmark, and if he maintains the potency shown against Serbia, Kane and the rest of Gareth Southgate’s side will have plenty to get excited about [David Moyes].
