Journalist shares major injury update on West Ham mainstay ahead of Hull clash

West Ham United skipper Mark Noble was a notable absence from the 2-1 defeat against Arsenal on Saturday evening.

The Irons midfielder started the Premier League opener against Newcastle, but the outcome was the same at the London Stadium.

David Moyes won’t be happy with their start to the season his side has made, despite the Hammers being much better against Arsenal.

Noble picked up a toe injury and had to have injections in the problem area and hasn’t trained for the past week.

Moyes commented on Noble’s progress, claiming that he didn’t want to risk one of his most senior players in the squad.

“Mark Noble has a bit of a toe injury, we just didn’t risk him in training because he has had an injection in it. We will see how he is,” he said.

Football London journalist Sam Inkersole shared a major update on the Hammers skipper on Monday, claiming that he won’t be available for another week.

That will see Noble definitely ruled out of the Carabao Cup third round clash against Hull City this week with the problem.

There is no need to risk the experienced midfielder against a League One side, only one week after easily beating Charlton 3-0 at the London Stadium.

Nobles’ setback caused a change of system against Arsenal, and it helped. Moyes went for a five-at-the-back system which allowed Arthur Masuaku and Ryan Fredericks to bomb forward whenever.

It left Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in midfield, and that could be the way forward for the Irons, even once Noble returns.
