Journalist responds as Mark Noble mooted for West Ham United interim job if David Moyes is sacked
West Ham appointing Mark Noble as interim manager if David Moyes was sacked would do “more harm than good” says Football London’s Jonty Colman.
Moyes has come under increasing pressure of late, with the board now putting pressure on the Scot to turn things around quickly.
Colman has been asked in his latest Football London Q&A whether he thinks Noble would be a viable option for the club if Moyes departs.

“That would seem to be more harm than good. Mark Noble was announced to be the club’s new sporting director in September to start in January, giving him the best part of four months to prepare for the role,” he said (Football London, 15 November).
“Taking him out of that mid-prep to take a manager role in the Premier League, even short-term, would only detriment the work he is putting in for his new role. I don’t think Moyes will be getting sacked, so it’s not something to worry about for now.”
Not likely
Taking Noble out of his current role at the club would be a poor move. He’s learning quickly what his new position entails and throwing him into a Premier League management position would be a risky and rash move from the Hammers.
Furthermore, at present, it looks rather unlikely for Moyes to be removed from his position at the London Stadium, with the World Cup break now underway. If he was going to be sacked, a decision would surely have been made after West Ham’s 2-0 home defeat against Leicester at the London Stadium.

The Scot has a massive job on his hands over the next few months to win back large portions of the fan base who have grown tired of his negative football and outdated methods. The group of players at his disposal right now should not be playing defensive, counterattacking football.
West Ham fans want their side on the front foot looking to take the game to their opponents. Moyes simply has to rediscover what his side have previously excelled at as we head into the second half of the season.
