Jonathan Woodgate gushes over West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell

Aaron Cresswell scored a superb goal against Everton as West Ham won 2-1 against the Toffees in the Premier League on Sunday (03 April).

Jonathan Woodgate was full of praise for the left-back, saying he was “exceptional” with his free kick.

The Toffees equalised in the second half through Mason Holgate, but Jarrod Bowen scored on his return to seal all three points for the home side.

“A fantastic free-kick by Aaron Cresswell,” said Woodgate, as quoted by the BBC website.

“He has that in his locker to do that, exceptional left foot. Postage stamp, top corner – Jordan Pickford had absolutely no chance.”

Huge win

It’s a big win for the Hammers as they move up to fifth in the Premier League.

The Hammers were lively in the opening few minutes but it needed a spectacular free-kick from Cresswell to break the deadlock.

After two losses in their past three matches, their top-four were all but evaporated as they dropped to eighth in the league.

However, this victory has reignited their hopes of getting into the top-four, although London rivals Arsenal are still favourites at this point.

West Ham

The Hammers have never played in the Champions League, and it will be a huge achievement if Moyes can achieve that this season.

It was also good to see Bowen returning to the side, and scoring once again.

Cresswell, meanwhile, has been really impressive this season. He has managed six assists in all competitions this season, and he is getting better like an old wine.
