Jesse Lingard shares Instagram post after West Ham defeat v Newcastle
West Ham United crashed to a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Newcastle in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.
Craig Dawson was shown his marching orders in the first half, but the Irons rallied before Joe Willock scored the winner late on at St. James’ Park.
Jesse Lingard scored once again from the penalty spot, but it was the worrying sight of him being forced off injured that would have had fans biting their nails.
The Manchester United loanee has taken to his personal Instagram account after the clash and has delivered a positive update, fingers crossed.
“Great character from the boys,” he wrote.
“Unlucky not to come away with anything but we rest, recover and go again.”
Rest and recover.
The fact that Lingard signed off his latest social media post with the two words “go again” fills us with great hope that he will be fine.
Initially, it did look like the England international was just suffering from cramp and that is understandable given that he was chasing the ball more due to Dawson’s red card.
Lingard has been sensational since arriving from Old Trafford, and has scored nine goals and added three assists in his 10 performances – no one has scored more since his debut.
The Irons welcome Chelsea to the London Stadium next Saturday, and these seven days will be crucial, with Lingard instrumental to our hopes of three points in the big derby clash.
We have everything crossed that he can indeed rest, recover and go again.
