Jeff Stelling raves about ‘fantastic’ West Ham United signings ahead of Premier League clash v Brighton

Jeff Stelling has raved about the season West Ham are having and the success of their summer transfer signings as they prepare to face Brighton at the London Stadium.

The legendary broadcaster explained that the Hammers could move to within four points of Arsenal if they win tonight’s game in a display of how impressive their performances have been.

Stelling went on to single out James Ward-Prowse, Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez for the impact they have had since arriving in the summer transfer window.

West Ham

Ahead of the Premier League clash on 2 January, Stelling was speaking live on talkSPORT [08:40] as he gushed: “It’s been a great season so far, well it’s been a great season for both sides hasn’t it?

“West Ham are in sixth place, they could go four points behind Arsenal, and Brighton could go sixth with a win, and they’re both doing it while managing European campaigns.

“I’ll tell you what though, West Ham have recruited so well, haven’t they? James Ward-Prowse and Kudus and Alvarez, it’s been absolutely fantastic for them.”

Stand up and be counted

With West Ham flying high in the league, and the potential to close the cap to title-challenging Arsenal already, the club’s star players must stand up and be counted on, with their performances the key to helping keep the good times going.

A victory over injury-ravaged Brighton would allow the Hammers to mount a serious challenge for the top four, something that not many would have expected when there were calls for David Moyes to be sacked earlier in the season.

West Ham

After last season’s Conference League success, the Hammers are looking to keep their trophy-winning hopes alive, and having topped their Europa League group, competing in the FA Cup and sitting sixth in the Premier League as things stand, it is shaping up to be another top season.

The praise from Stelling has been earned by this group of players, including those who arrived in the summer, and a win against Brighton would ensure the praise remains high.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are interested in signing an “excellent” defender in January.
