Jeff Stelling predicts West Ham United clash v Newcastle in Premier League for Sky Sports
Jeff Stelling has opted for a Newcastle win against West Ham on Wednesday 5 April as the Hammers get set to host the Geordies in Wednesday’s live Sky Sports broadcast.
The popular, veteran host of Sky’s Soccer Saturday programme has predicted a 1-2 scoreline in favour of Eddie Howe’s men with both sides aiming for consecutive wins after respective home victories at the weekend.
If they secure three points at the London Stadium, it would mean four wins on the bounce for Newcastle who will go into the game full of confidence following their impressive 2-0 success over Manchester United.

Sharing his predictions for the latest round of Sky Sports’ Super 6, Stelling believes that momentum will continue, representing trouble from Tyneside for West Ham boss, David Moyes.
Sunday’s crucial defeat of Southampton was the Hammers second win from the last five PL games with the former Everton and Preston manager craving momentum to pull his team up the table.
Elsewhere in this midweek round of fixtures, Stelling also noted:
“Chelsea are struggling, but so are Liverpool.”
“This is one that could be decided by a mistake, however, I don’t think one will come so I am siding with a stalemate. Elsewhere, Manchester United will record an important win at home to Brentford, as they look for a reaction following their defeat to Newcastle.”

West Ham would likely take a repeat of the recent stalemate against Newcastle when the teams played out a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park in February.
The high flying Magpies are on course to consolidate their Champions League aspirations ahead of Man United and Spurs, in third place in the Premier League table, whilst the Hammers are very much in a battle to avoid relegation.
Every point will be an important one from now until the end of the season with up to nine clubs currently in the danger zone but Wednesday’s game cannot be considered a must win for Moyes’ men as much as it would be most welcome.
It would be a stunning result as well as something of a surprise if West Ham were to get the better of Newcastle in a reflection of the progress made in the north east but they have only recorded one win in their last five away Premier League games.
