Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist jibe at West Ham United fans amid ‘Terrific’ David Moyes verdict
Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist have hit out at West Ham fans live on air after David Moyes’ side beat Brentford 4-1 on Monday 26 February.
The Hammers manager has been under immense pressure at London Stadium, going winless in eight matches in all competitions before a Jarrod Bowen hat-trick and Emerson Palmieri rocket secured a win against the Bees.
West Ham fans have been highly critical of Moyes’ playing style, but the return of Lucas Paqueta from injury looks to have made a vital difference in claiming their first victory since December.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (27 February, 6:05am), Stelling joked: “They can put that ‘Moyes out’ banner back in the attic, can’t they?”
Ally McCoist joined in, adding: “I’m sure it’ll come back out sometime during the next month or so, but that was a terrific result.”
Stelling continued, saying: “Level on points with seventh-place Brighton, through to the Europa League Last 16, reigning Europa Conference League champions… What more does David Moyes need to do?
“Everyone keeps saying that we’re David Moyes’ pals but we’re not. We can just see that he is doing a decent job.”
Is the criticism of David Moyes at West Ham United too harsh?
There is no doubt that Moyes has accomplished some great achievements with the Hammers and has provided the fans with some incredible memories.
However, football is a results-based business and the Scot has not been winning games since the turn of the New Year, at least not until their clash with Brentford on Monday 26 February.
This would suggest that the criticism aimed towards the West Ham boss is more than justifiable, with the club slipping down the table and away from the top-six spots.
At one point in the season, there was hope that the London side could finish in the top-four spots and were certainly in contention. Major injuries have played their part, though.

As soon as Paqueta returned, it looked as though a switch had been flicked and the previous form had been rediscovered. There were still improvements to be made but it was vital that West Ham claimed all three points.
Managers can only survive off their previous achievements for so long, and although it seems that Moyes will be given until the end of the season to decide his future, that could have changed if the poor run continued.
In other West Ham news, a manager with a 69 per cent Europa League win record is eyed to replace David Moyes at the London Stadium.
