Jason Cundy reacts what he’s told about Jose Mourinho at West Ham United – ‘Car Crash’
West Ham bringing in Jose Mourinho to replace Julen Lopetegui could end up being an “absolute car crash”, Jason Cundy has said.
Speaking on talkSPORT (9 November), Cundy, Jamie O’Hara and an Irons fan discussed potential new managers if Lopetegui is given the boot, with the latter suggesting current Fenerbahce boss Mourinho.
The 61-year-old has previous Premier League experience with varying success at Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Cundy said he would love to see it but could see clashes between the Portuguese and owner David Sullivan.
He said: “I’d love to see that – Mourinho at West Ham!
“Can you imagine Mourinho and David Sullivan? Can you imagine that! Wowzers – I think he would turn it into an absolute car crash, I do.”
Jose Mourinho could make waves at West Ham United
Lopetegui remains in post at the London Stadium, but after a dismal 0-0 draw with Everton on Saturday hardly raised the pulses of anyone in attendance, the Irons’ hierarchy are surely considering his sacking.
The Spaniard being replaced by the Portuguese Mourinho would be – by some distance – the most high-profile managerial appointment in the club’s history, and one which could go one of two ways.

Mourinho’s early success at Chelsea and Manchester United seems, and is, a long time ago now, with his biggest achievement in recent seasons being a UEFA Conference League victory with Roma in 2022.
The Hammers themselves won the same trophy a year later under David Moyes, but his successor Lopetegui has looked light years away from replicating those heights in his time in East London thus far.
While hiring Mourinho is Lopetegui is fired could be seen as another “vanity appointment” in the eyes of some, there’s no doubt that he would immediately galvanise the currently-dispirited Hammers fanbase.
In other West Ham news, Jamie O’Hara gave his verdict on what the Hammers should do next after their goalless draw with Everton.
